About Pioneer Valley Ballet

History

Pioneer Valley Ballet (PVB) was founded in 1972. As a non-profit corporation, governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, PVB is committed to providing pre-professional training and performance experience to dedicated young dancers and to bringing high quality dance performances to the community. PVB's professional quality studios, it's offices, and costume shop are located in the Eastworks Building at 116 Pleasant Street in Easthampton, MA, less than 10 minutes from Northampton, MA.

PVB's performance home is Northampton's own jewel, the Academy of Music Opera House. PVB begins its season with six sold-out performances of The Nutcracker. This treasured community event includes over 300 dancers from towns throughout western Massachusetts, performing parts ranging from the enchanting snowflakes to the tiniest reindeer. The Spring Season consists of an orginal full-length ballet choreographed by Thomas Vacanti and Maryanne Kodzis. Previous perfromances have included Cinderella, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. This season we are proud to present Aladdin. An End-of-the-Year Celebration concludes the year in June with performances by all levels of PVB. PVB also Northampton's First Night Festivities, Just For Kicks, Easthampton's BearFest and the Academy's Gala.

PVB is committed to Affirmative Action policies in all facets of its artistic and managerial endeavors and is funded by private, corporate, and foundation contributions.
